For mine... I just noticed that the one thread the reads "Show off your talent" is cut off at an awkward point on the front page... it looks like it says, "Show off your ta~ta's"

Did GB close already. I noticed I couldn't even post.

Parish closed down the forum even though it is before August.

Makes me a little sad. There was a lot of people that I wanted to swap email addresses with, or something. I guess I'll just have to hope that they surface on one of these other forums...

Why is it that I do my best thinking right before I go to bed, but just to loose it when I wake up?

Given the loyal core of members that GB had, it is very disappointing that they couldn't even be bothered to wind down the forum decently.

I think our thanks should go to Madelchai for his efforts on our behalf. Do bear in mind that Endless and I were both firmly entrenched in GB, and Madelchai had only been a member for a few weeks, which may well have influenced people's choices.

I know he has signed up on Endless's forum, but I don't know how active he has been there.

He has a few posts on endless's. He may not be too active right now because he is trying to get his package from cryoflesh back (it was stolen).

I have seen a lot of people migrate to either of the popular boards.

I am frankly rather p***ed off at GB for locking their boards like this; in fact the way they have handled the closure of the boards altogether.

It would not have hurt them one iota to have made a proper announcement and given us all enough warning to plan an 'orderly evacuation' rather than the confused mess that we have actually ended up with.

However, there's no use crying over spilt milk. We'll just have to make the best of the situation.

Ive come to really enjoy the people Ive met on the GB boards and it was really disappointing to find out the forums were closing.

Why didnt they hire regulars from the boards to run them or something?
Or transfer all the forums to another domain so its off their servers and have someone run them???

Weird weird.
I suppose if they cant run it, they just cant. *shrug*

BUT as has been pointed out by parish before. GB is a business. If the Forum wasnt generating subscriptions for GB then why have it using the mags resources. I think thats something wonderful about the Gothic "subculture" there is a sense of community there in some ways. Goths have long used the internet and forums to find one another and reach out.
Especially if you were from some pissant rural area like I was, waiting aeons for the old text only sites to come up through my modem.
Goths seem to want their magazines, stores, music to support and participate in the community and help solidify and encourage the growth of the "subculture" (icky word). But maybe Im idealistic?

I dont see why a community WOULDNT be important to a magazine. What a great resource as far as having more input on what your reader's want, what theyre into right now, what theyre shopping for etc. Invaluable information.
Yes its a small and select cross section but there are always new members, and advertised properly it would be a great way to create brand recognition and a more loyal and involved following.
