I love the fabric shading on that second one Moonraven. It actually looks like Japanese silk. Did you use a reference for it? I nearly always need a reference when I get to material and whatnot

^You really do have quite a gift there, m'dear. If I didn't already know you are beside yourself with Gloomth work, I would suggest you pick it up again!

I did freelance work for a few years...it really wasnt for me. Lots of drawing crap I hated for art directors with no vision.
Lots of underpaid overworked nights. Its not a fun gig.

Im working on a graphic novel that should be up on Gloomth someday soon(ish)... So maybe thatll get me started again.

In God we Trust:

Oil on canvas. 24 x 18 The inspiration behind this painting comes from both stories, told by my mom regarding her life as a child here in England during the Second World War and an old photograph of that time depicting school children wearing gas masks in preparation for an attack. I remember the look on her face when she described the fear, as both her and my Nana, huddled in the Anderson (bomb) shelter, praying to God that the next bomb to fall would land some ways off. I have attempted to capture just a glimpse of that fear and the claustrophobic feelings of dread, in the one eye that can be seen…

I did two of these canvases recently, one for myself and one for my 'fairy goth daughter' who will be 5 in November and firmly believes that crows and pirates are the best things ever.

I swear I didn't coerce her in any way. I do encourage her obsessions with appropriate artwork however.
