Depp + Burton = Dark Shadows?

Part of me is thinking that they've been doing some ooookay stuff lately- not brillant like it used to be but the other part of me is squealing like a five year old who just got a tickle me Elmo that his parents had to bodily fight for.

That's the one that was like 'Upstairs, Downstairs' with vampires, right?
Sounds interesting.

Never heard of "Dark Shadows" but Burton and Depp are always worth the price of a cinema ticket.


Except for "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"

I'm a little late but "Noooo!! Noooo! Oh it cant be true this can't be happening! this is horrible!" Thats either what I thought with the thread name or mases of people screaming at something devastating, I think its both... I cant take another horrible burton/depp movie where Burton tries working out his daddy issues thus destroying something good yet again

The basic problem here is that if this goes through, from then on, everyone will think Dark Shadows is a movie.
Same way as if I mention Carlo Collodi's magnificent novel Pinnochio people immediately shift the conversation to a cartoon Disney made. Same way as it's impossible to talk about L. Frank Baum's masterwork without people hijacking the conversation and talking about an MGM movie with Judy Garland (who resembled Dorothy Gale in no way I can think of, other than being female and boring).

If they make Dark Shadows a movie, the odds of anyone ever knowing what it actually is again drop right down to nil, and that's sad.
