I like the smileys, too. They have potential.

I decided it was definitely time to find a different boat when I found I was no longer able to even post at GB.

So what are the "resources" they don't have for maintaining the board? Is it a question of funding? Don't tell me it's manpower... Did they even try asking for subscribers or contributors or whatever before pulling the plug?

I can't speak for GB, but honestly, it's not TOO difficult to operate a forum, especially if you have volunteer moderators.

I pretty much run a forum all by myself and pay for it out of my own pocket and things run smoothly. Whatever their issues are, it's got to be something a bit more serious. Perhaps the economy is hitting GB pretty badly? Perhaps the admin is just offering up "lack of resources" as an excuse?

Either way, kudos to EHE for taking the initiative for starting this forum.

So, as said before, and probably somewhere else answered, are we splitting up into two boards now? I'm on this one and endless', but this is really darn confusing.

Everyone seems to want to know what is going on. We all just keep saying that we don't care where we go, as long as we are all together.
Oh, and I would prefer if we didn't have to be part of three forums.. just the thought hurts my head.

Personally I think GB has shot themselves in the foot as I believe the sale in their mags will now start to fall as well, if they haven't already.

Still a shame though and I agree with you on the " it's not too difficult to operate a foum".

It's about maintaining a sense of community, GHE. You and EHE have shown your interest in maintaining that sense of community. There are "others", however, who are not as inclined to nurture and maintain it. You are correct about it affecting magazine sales. I know last year, they lost a few subscribers and even two potential advertisers because of what a certain somebody did. I hold no grudges, as I figure that eventually, the marketplace will level things out. People in the subculture want a place to belong and they will go to where they feel a sense of belonging.

I wish GB, and yes...even Parrish, good luck in the future. They need it, especially with excellent competition like Deathrock magazine now on the shelves.

Oooh, yes, Deathrock magazine...(looks to see if they have a forum)...
