Publishers toss Booker winners into the reject pil

What a bloody downer to people like me who try to become a published writer.

On the other hand, just because you wrote one really good book 30 years ago (although, seriously, how many Booker Prize Winners have you read that actually were any good) doesn't mean everything else you write will be of the same quality or even marketable. I believe in music terms it's called a One Hit Wonder.

I am a huge Stephen King fan. He is lauded worldwide as one of, if not the best horror writer of our time. 'Carrie', 'IT' and 'Misery' are masterpieces of the genre in my (and many other people's) opinion.

Doesn't mean 'From a Buick 8' didn't suck.
