| Sherlock Holmes and it was awesome!
Jeremy Brett will always be Holmes for me but RD Jnr did a good job and Jude Law was really good as Watson. He always surprises me with how good an actor he is. I'll usually get half way through a film (as I did this time) before I realise it's him at all.
All in all I was pretty impressed with the interpretation, which wasn't mangled to all hell, as American adaptations of English literature so often are *cough* Dorian Grey *cough*

| Depends what you consider 'proper.' Myself, I'm into 'horror' as opposed to 'slasher,' and draw a definite line of distinction. I agree with what Hitchcock said about scary films, that the fear is in the implication. You can make a threat as scary as you want - you can put an atom bomb under Yankee Stadium if you want, and you can let it count all the way to zero, but what you CAN'T do is let it go off, because then the scaryness is over. It's all done. It's not scary anymore. Now, of course, he was doing suspense and crime pictures and such, but I think the same really holds true for any film that's meant to be scary. The best true Horror I've seen in recent memory was Gothika with Halle Barrie. Awesome acting, decent plot, lots of suspense.
Of course, my all time favorite genre is Comedy-Horror, but that's a bit harder to come by. Army of Darkness and such, you know?

| Hi Well I totally agree with regards to the slasher vs horror point, and while there is a time and place for the former they tend to be instantly forgettable. I enjoyed Gothika too, recently watched the The Fourth Kind, I did enjoy it but only because I thought it was genuinely real, (ok I can be a but gullable at times) and since finding out its a huge hoax with not a thread of reality I am once again disappointed and probably won't bother watching it again. I liked The Decent as well, made worse for me as I am really claustrophobic so definitely a hard one to watch with this in mind, and liked the fact that they didn't all get out happily ever after. Also Eden Lake is really good, another unhappy, more realistic ending. Oh an love end of the world stuff, watched The Road the other day, also excellent On the subject of comedy horror have to draw the line though to me these two genre's don't really mix. But then I am dead fussy with comedy films, like meet the parents and that's about it lol! Anyway just a few thoughts... Charlie www.gothic-designs.co.uk | |

| Well I saw Book of Eli the other day, definitely worth a watch... used to hate De Caprio but thinking that Inception might be ok and to be fair I have seen a few good performances from him recently in some more gritty films, so he has gone up in my books at little. Seen Sweeny Todd, is that the Jonny Depp one, my mum Loves all his films.. Charlie www.gothic-designs.co.uk | |

| Yeah. I love Depp. I think he's got a lot of range. I still think his best performance was probably Benny and Joon, though, but I've liked him in everything I've seen. Still need to see the new Alice. Trying to keep an open mind about that.
Saw a trailer for the new Smurfs movie the other day. I'd been looking forward to that for a long time, since I heard they were doing it. Now I'm disappointed to find I'll probably hate it. It's set in New York for some damn reason.

| Eclipse. It was awesome. The first 2 were a bit a lot teeny-bop-emo. Eclipse is worth it for the CGI wolves alone. And Jackson Rathbone. *swoon* | |

| The Last Airbender.
There's 2 hours of my life I'm not getting back. It could have been so good, it's got a solid cast and the acting and story are both good. But I left feeling like I hadn't actually watched a film, just an extended trailer. During which not a lot happened that convinced me I wanted to watch the whole movie.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice however, was freakin' awesome. And I don't say that lightly when it comes to Disney films..
